Video of the 2015 excavation

Our work continues to be amazingly well supported by volunteers, DAT are grateful for their assistance.  The work at St Patrick’s Chapel provided a very rare opportunity for members of the public to participate in the excavation of an important ancient site, and proved to be very popular with volunteers. DAT were pleased to provide on-site training so that every participant learnt more about the process of archaeological excavation.

Those not lucky enough to secure volunteering slots, were able to join the many many visitors to the site.  Guided tours were conducted during each season and as the site is located on a busy tourist beach many 1000s of people were able to see the excavation in progress and watch the remains uncovered, recorded and removed for analysis.
