Placing of an upright marker stone

As the oval enclosure and the central feature began to disappear beneath sand an upright marker was placed at the west end of the central feature. This must have been done when the feature had virtually disappeared as it was balanced on the west end upright slab. This marker had been broken off, so it is unknown whether it had a cross or other decoration. Before the feature entirely disappeared a decorated stone was placed on it, possibly a broken gaming board.

Burials, all infants and young children continued within the oval enclosure.
